Got it. What would cause lines to kink? Which one are typically affected - all three or just vac and breather?

Since the battery was dead, if fuel flow is not a problem, maybe the battery is bad. Others have reported a battery good enough to turn the bike engine over, but would not start. They went thru all the fuel issues, and would not start. Put in a new battery, and started right up. Probably fuel, bet keep the battery in mind if fails to start. MP

I don't think anyone answered your question about which carb is #6. As you sit on the bike, it's the first carburator on your left. So, left side of bike, the carb closest to the rear of the bike. The vacuum hose that comes off that carburator goes to the petcock and provides vacuum to open the petcock valve. If you drained your tank, there would be no fuel in the line to feed the carbs until the petcock valve is opened by the vacuum line. Still, it should have fired an run for at least a little while. You didn't say you drained the carbs. Still, I'd do what rodeo said and put a little fuel into each cylindar. I had the same problem after cleaning my carbs out and the bike cranked forever. I cranked it so long I was afraid that I would run down the battery or overheat the starter. So I put a little fuel in each cylinder and viola! she fired right up. Let us know what you find out!

Most common seems to be the one from #6 to the fuel petcock. All the other ones just cause idle problems and crappy performance. The age of the lines is also a problem, as they are made of rubber. You should probably replace them all if you suspect they may be leaking. I've kinked mine a few times (yesterday as a matter of fact) putting the tank on. It's just a tight space and easy to over-bend them on installation. Once you've got them installed and running, no more issues until next time.

Folks,
IT STARTED! Turns out the battery indeed was weak. Just hooked it up to my truck and POW! Checked the 6th carb as well and it was wet. So far so good. Gonna take it out for a quick 70+ mile spin. Love the sound of those MarkTs!
Thanks again for being so responsive and for all the good suggestions! Hope to see y'all in WV in August!

That's good to hear, I was afraid it may have been the johnson link or delfi konuter valve but as it turns out it was just a need for more sub atomic particals.

When I pulled the tank the 1'st time about 4 years ago I didn't like the length of the fuel line so I put in a longer one to make it easy to hook up. Well stock length is what it wanted cause when I took her out for a test run she stalled out and I had to ride back home very slow. The cause was a restricted flow caused by a kink.

A piece of dirt in the gas tank vent tube could prevent starting also. Try starting with the fuel door open,or try the shilling trick. Put a thin coin on the tank gasket to allow some air into the system.
