Anyone have these installed on their bars?
Rumble road vs kury vs JM?
Are these worthy of their $500 cost?
Fairings seem to run $1500 without audio, and ipods with ear buds are banned here in Ohio.
Looking for an audio solution that doesn't cost a fortune, and these look like the ticket.
Thanks.

I got my system from www.motorcycletunes.com and I'm completely satisfied...and the cost was much less.

Whats the best way to wire the system?
Directly off the battery with a separate fused circuit?
Wired off a current circuit from the fuse box?
Any pics?

That link for motorcycle tunes sure is tempting.
Thanks.

When asked about wiring my gps, TAZ highly recommended this (along with the relay that goes with it that turns things on and off with the ignition):

Ordered them yesterday, so I can't help you out with pics. Apparently it wires to the battery, then sits in the open space in the tool kit area. This was also the cheapest I could find them online.

Thanks for the link.
I imagine I could splice into the headlight circuit,if I go with self amplified speakers.
This would be the easiest route without having wires running everywhere.
I may just fork over the cash and go JM.

It would be nice to hear them before I buy,but it doesn't look probable.

When I wired mine, I installed a small fuse block under the right side cover that is activated with a relay.  The relay is wired directly to the battery and activated by the auxiliary wire that is also under the right side cover.  The amp is under the seat and all of the wires run under the tank along the OEM wiring harness.  The fuse block came in handy when I wired my Audiovox cruise control and my GPS.

What helmet?
 rolleyes
I'm not a safety guy.
I wear a helmet to keep my head warm only,or when it's required by state regulation.
Last year at the demo rides it nearly killed me riding with all their protective BS.
I prefer to ride with Jesus, and will take my chances.
Thanks for the concern though.

I thought I just recently saw this thread & put a reply in it.

Anyway, I did a writeup about my audio install in a standard many years ago, but recently made a couple changes.  You can get 2 unamplified Rumble Road speakers for about $150 ( I haven't checked their price lately).  Their internal speaker amps aren't worth it - junk that makes maybe 23 watts.  For about the same money as the junk amps from Rumble Road you can get a REAL, top shelf amp.  You can buy a 400 watt class D Blaupunkt amp that will fit under your seat for $149 online right now - I just replaced my T class amp which finally croaked.  That amp will also drive another pair of speakers if you want 4 instead of 2.  That's what I did.  Plenty of power for four 75WRMS speakers.

My Archos 20GB mp3 player finally croaked after about 6 years of hard use.  So I just replaced it with an Ipod Classic 120GB player for about $225 at Costco.  Frankly the IPOD firmware sucks, after getting used to the open source firmware from RockBoxx on the Archos.  There are developers working on firmware for the IPOD, including Rockboxx, but they don't have anything for the CLassic yet.  I'm sure Rockboxx and 2 other Linux shops will have something for the Classic soon, so I'll get by with some kludges until they do.

I edited this link, works now:

See my writeup at http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Jammin_with_Blaupunkt/jammin_with_blaupunkt.html

Rumble road has an ultra setup now putting out 100 watts each side at around $350 I believe.
I would rather not have an external amp and all the extra wiring.
If I can get some real reviews on the rumble road ultra,I may give them a shot, otherwise the J&M look like the ticket.
Anyone have the switch blocks attached to their brake reservoir or handlebars?
Having aux switches at the bar sounds like a good idea.

I listened to all of them and spent the extra $$ on the J&M.  Ther install easily and the amp and vol control is built right in.  No need to mount the amp remotely wiring is easy and straight forward.  Quality is first rate.  Got a good deal (the best i could find) on mine from www.sierra-mc.com

I also added the switchblocks to the LS handlebar for my running lights, driving lights and use the third as an on off for the speakers.

good luck
