Maybe someone else can see better than me

Beautiful day in NY and I rode the valk in today,  but for some reason the trip was 40 miles longer than usual Grin

It will likely be another month before I mount it. I went with this tire after reading up on the DS Forum.

if I could get 20,000 miles from a motorcycle tire, I wouldn't even consider a car tire. I got 4,000 miles from the original dunlops, and 7,000 out of the E3s , so cartire, here I come.

20,000 miles out of a bike tire, could you see the air through the cords? I don't feel I ride that hard but I have difficulties getting any thing over 8000 out of a rear tire, Could probalby get a bit more, but I seem to develope vibrations from worn tires, last avon with 7500 vibrated so bad I thought I had a drive shaft going out, always run 42 to 45 psi.

No Guys 20K on my E3s is normal. Changed them 13K ago and still going strong. Got at least another 8-10K out of them. So don't know what to say. But have no reason to make the mileage more than I get.

I believe you, I just wish I could get that kind of mileage from a motorcycle tire. what pressure do you run?

I cant get much more than 6000 out of a bike tire either.  I live in the NC mountains though.  I attribute it to my driving  for one.  Im a bit hard on the bike pushing it through the curves, and secondly, I attribute it to the tar and gravel roads here which I think wear the tires more quickly than asphalt or concrete does.

Mostly, I blame my riding style.  I think the harder you push the old gal, the faster the rubber wears.

the general altimax is supposed to handle very well. it has a soft rubber compound. cost is around 80 bucks, if I can get 10,000 miles out of it, I will be happy.

40 psi takes a little more counterseer than I prefer. at 38 psi, with the 461 dunlop on the front,  it would fall into the corners. went for a ride today with a couple on an 1800 goldwing, and a couple on a boss hoss trike( a story for another time)with the pressure set at 39 psi. steering was neutral. so far 39 psi is my sweet spot.
