how fast we ride is often related to how confident we are with our motorcycle. if you are intimidated by a motorcycle, you are not going to be as fast as you will be on a motorcycle that you are more comfortable with. if I get on a motorcycle with forward mounted controls, my confidence level goes way down, and yet I know people who absolutely love forward mounted controls. it all comes down to riding what you are comfortable with. to each his own
