I am getting pretty anxious to get a Valk. If anyone sees one at a dealer, or knows of one somewhere, please let me know. I will fly and drive home from WA State.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the paint jobs different between the 99 and 2000?

I believe the question is: Are the red/black paint schemes the same for the two model years, of do they differ in their pattern?
I know the 2001 has available a dark red in a different pattern, only 120 made. The rarest.
Do not know if the regular red 99 and 00 models were a different pattern though.

OOPS... I stand corrected, I was looking at the standards, not the Interstates.

THAT's why I have never seen one. Any idea how many of your purple bikes there are? I've only seen yours and one other in person or online. Nitro

My mistake on the Deep Red/Black 2001 IS. 160 made. Rarest one in US. There was a copper combo with 80, all Europe. It says there were 340 made of my Purple/white. 97 only. Nobody must have liked them!!! I sure do. Here is the link: http://www.valkyrienorway.com/Production%20By%20Color.htmlLook around the site. Great info. Melvin

I know of 2 red and black interstates that had either battery or alternator trouble at the blue grey
One was the alt and the rider and his friends were going to be switching batteries every so often till they got home
the other was charliemac whose battery I hooked up to my battery tender jr and he bump started it in 2nd gear then bought a new battery and made it home ok
If you have an older valk consider the starter button maintenance and also check the level in the battery.
Once the level gets too low you can burn out the battery cell and not have enough OOOMPH to start the bike although it will crank for you
I have the black and beige myself

all that is caused by riding too slow ! too bad they arent black. black ones are the fastest and NEVER need any maintainance. i've seen them get 50 to 60 mpg.
must be the wax ?
