Considering Trade, '05 ST1300ABS for Mint Low Mileage Canadian Valkyrie

I'm thinking of trading my Honda ST1300ABS for a Valkyrie (prefer Tourer or I/S, but will look at all, especially customized examples)

I had a Valkyrie before my ST, loved it, but the ST was better for my cross country tour, now that its done, I'm thinking about a nice relaxed Valkyrie again (also thinking about a Triumph Rocket III)

The ST has about 19k miles on it (~30k km), its red, its the ABS and power windshield version, located near Windsor Ontario Canada (just across the border from Detroit Mi)

The farkles on the ST are:
Ceramic headers
Corbin Smuggler
Fork Brace
K&N Air Filter
Kaoko Throttle Lock
Tank Bra
Stebel Air Horn (139dB blast really wakes up the BDC!)
Pirate's Lair removable Backrest (for the lady, or seat luggage)
Angle valve stems,
and others. (all original parts included)

All parts are high quality components.
The list can be changed according to value of trade bike & deal with new owner.

The bike is running 100% synthetic fluids (Motul/AmsOil Oil etc) synth final drive oil, even the brake & clutch fluid is new and synthetic.

Bike runs fantastic, just completed cross Canada month long journey, which is what the bike was purchased for.
Now I'm thinking of slowing down and just cruising around (the speeding tickets I got are helping that too )

The ST handles very very well, incredibly nimble, great power out of the V4, and smooooth like no other bike I've ridden. The ABS is a great feature to have as well, I've tested it. The power windshield gives the bike a real dual personality and can be adjusted for any height rider or riding conditions on the fly.

At this stage I'm just thinking about a trade, and wondering if anyone is interested.

I also have spare tires (put new tires on for the long ride, they're still great, plus my previous set is still good too) the spares are included with bike.

I'm only thinking about a private trade, no dealers, I'm not looking to sell my bike etc.

   I did the same thing a couple of years ago, traded my 2003 ST for an Interstate, and for essentially the same reasons.  The ST is a great bike, quick and handles like no other bike I've ridden but it can give you confidence in riding ability that maybe you don't have.  Love the Valk, it doesn't corner like the ST but it's comfortable and relaxing to ride.  Check out the Auto Trader site and Kijiji sites, send an e-mail to any Valk owners looking to sell and see if they would be interested in trading - the bikes seem to share the same type of riders and the interest is often there.  Nice to try something different, both have excellent reliability records.  Looking for a Canadian bike really restricts the opportunities but does save on some cross border paperwork and gives you the correct speedometer readout.  Good luck in your quest..............

I am located just outside of Windsor Ontario Canada (across the border/river from Detroit Michigan)

I would consider a US bike as well, however I'm still in the process of doing research on how to import a US bike into Canada and the costs involved.  I'm hoping to keep the whole process on a zero cost basis, however the US does have a much larger population and chance that someone will want to trade bikes vs selling & buying (which I don't want to do, my ST keeps me happy)

I live in Kitchener, and bought my I/S from a US dealer. The paperwork's not that hard, and the total cost taxes and shipping-in for the imported bike was less than the asking price for a local bike.

The paperwork wasn't that hard either.

Take a look at a US bike - if you do your homework, you could save quite a bit.

I just picked up a Blue 01' Standard/Custom CND for $7,500.00 CDN with 32,000kms 19,840 mi. It's in really nice shape with Honda Leather bags and windshield. There is one for sale on Kijiji in the London area, guy is asking $ 8,300.00. Nice thing about CDN bike is the used vehicle package will show all previous owners and more likely to show if the bike has been branded and or any leins against it. Also you can check for any recalls and Cdn dealers are more inclined to take it on trade if you choose to deal it. Oh and don't forget the travel expense and exchange!
