Sorry fellos, have been running Avon Cobras this season on my Valk 2000 Tourer they are so much better than the Venoms and the previous 2 sets of Dunlops,The wife and I really love  the cornering on these babys!!!!!!!! Just love these tires and don't feel the need to go DARKSIDE yet!
I've heard great things about the new Cobra's by Avon.

I'm running Avon Cobra's now and really like them.  They are probably the best tire I've had on the bike in terms of handling.  However, the mileage, especially on the rear, has not been impressive.  I got 9000 miles from the Venom rear (2nd only to an E3 which netted 10,000).  Currently I have 7300 miles on the Cobra rear and, while the threads aren't showing yet, I'm keeping a daily eye for them while I wait for my new darkside tire to arrive.

I have over 8000 miles on my Cobra rear and it is just now showing a bit of flat spot in the center.   I am hoping for over 10000

Been there done that Toyo Proxes T1R for one year  Great tire in rain, starting and stopping  eliminates tar snake wander

Ruts not so good We have humongous double ruts here in NY north of the city on the state highways and as mentioned previously I couldnt handle the cornering with it , When I stopped enjoying that I knew it had to come off as I need to ride and enjoy riding

If you enjoy it then run with it and dont bother what others think its your life to do as you want
and only you can live it

Would I try it again?

Honestly I dont know, maybe a different tire if someone would agree to come to my house and  mount and remove it if I still didn t enjoy the overall experience After I wear out this terrific Cobra rear tire in regular size.  Thinkin I will go to a 200 (battleaxe or avon) before I consider to go back to the car tire again.

The cobra just snaps into turns without me having to think, a good thing to me

Oss: I can't tell you how much I enjoy your unbiased posts. It's difficult to do especially when one has an opinion, and everyone does. I went to a CT because of a bad experience I had with a new Avon tire. But that was with my wife riding and now that the blowout has her terrified I ride alone 100% of the time. Anyway, all that to say that when I'm finished with this ultimax (which I enjoy very much) I may try one of the two tires you mentioned above.
Thanks for your posts, I consider you one of the most knowledgable on the subject of the valk.

I originally went to the Darkside last fall. After running the tire a good 3,000 miles in all kinds of weather, I converted my wife's IS as well. We both prefer Darkside Valks.

Jump out of a perfectly good airplane? Nope, never gonna happen.

I've never jumped out of a "perfectly good airplane". No matter what they say, there's always something wrong with them! Grin

I rode to the last Honda Hoot on a Toyo car tire and went down the "Dragon" on it. It can be done. It will work. I proved the point. And, If I couldn't get a m/c tire for my rear for some reason, I'd put one on again. But I can get a m/c tire and that is what I intend to ride on from now on. The Avon's just work better. Good luck to all and keep the rubber side down.

That may very well be true, however, I've walked away from may a "controlled crash" without a scratch.  A preferred exit over jumping with a parachute!

Would you run a M/C tire on your car?
If HD made airplanes, would you fly in one?
