-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Got to hook up with a bunch of fellow Valk riders on Friday and make a memorial ride for Dan Stocker to the New River Gorge Bridge. 25 or so rode to the bridge ,and then Davey and a few split off to head back to the hotel. Rode back to Lewisburg with the rest of the gang on Rt. 60 enjoying the twisties. At Lewisburg we split again with John on a Rocket and Big Daddy D on a Valk, we swung into Sparetime lounge to see if Smoking Joe and his counter parts had shown up. They had not so we three headed to Marlinton on Rt. 219 . I probaly ride harder than I should...but John and Big D ride just as hard or harder and we really started draging pipes and pegs, btw the way if he posts it John has some video of some cool twisties complete with pipes dragging that I took of him on the rocket. Highbinder and Lady Draco were at the motel when we returned .We headed to dinner at a quaint little Inn near Snowshoe....thankfully Candy girl and I had already eaten cause it turned out that for only $72 Highbinder and Tracy got a salad thingy and almost enough lamb and quail to make a sandwich.Joe ,Big Al,Thumper, and Wimp showed up at the motel making for an evening of great tire kicking and stories. Saturday morning we woke up to another great day to ride. This time we left with 9 bikes...11 people and rode to Snowshoe,Cass,Greenbank,Seneca Rocks, and the highest point in the state Spruce Knob. All were great roads with thousands of twisties and very little gravel. This ride was plenty spirited with all the riders being somewhat on the aggressive side. Don and Tracy ended the ride with a tour of the countryside where they owned a farm a few years ago . Candy girl and I had planned on bailing out after the ride but with all the good friends at the motel we decided to stay for another night of great fellowship and stories. Today "Sunday" is always a little sad cause everyone is packing up to head home......We had a nice breakfast with Wimp,Thumper,Big Al,Joe,Tom,Don and Tracy,Greg and Rebeca said our goodbyes and wished them a safe ride home. Should be some good pics from Smokin Joe here soon. Sorry we missed you Mark "Three fan 4 life" and Debbie "Ginger" wished you had hung around for the night. Ended up Debbie and I didn't make it back to the Motel till 8 or so

It was great riding with you Wolf and all the others, The road to the bottom of th gourge was a hoot. We got smack in the middle of a thunderstorm on the way home about a hundred miles into Il. Something shorted out the ignition and we sat in the rain for about 45 min. No buildings or trees for miles, finaly fired up and limped home. Hope to see all you again next year. (Darrell & Vicky)

New jersey Andy....too far??? Dan has made that trip and Davey too from up there and they loved the ride so come on and don't wimp out on us, take I-90 all the way across to get there, fast and easy riding. too far.......come on now we all travel 1000's of miles for ride in going west, so that one is a easy trek. Dan even came for our Midwest Valk Ride In....can't be all that far and folks from way out west have come. just save some vaca time up is all or trailer if need be.

I checked on Yahoo Maps since you were talking about it and it is 1150 miles roughly from Tom's River, NJ to LaCrosse and you can take I-90 almost the entire way. I-90 and I-94 run right up there and then split off from what my trusty road map says around Tomah, Wis which is just East of LaCrosse so that is about a 2 day ride for alot of riders since it is super slab riding. You too might be able to get on Hwy 2 which goes from Portland Maine to Portland Oregon and then head south down the river. Riding along the Mississippi is an awesome ride, very scenic indeed.

Marlinton was my first family reunion and it was great to finally start meeting everyone. Wish I would have had the bike there, but can't have everything. Really enjoyed talking to folks and looking at all those great bikes. Wisconsin next time? Beautiful country up there, once the reunion location gets selected.....

That is true life is too short............and in the end all that matters are the friendships we forged ........Only problem wth the ride in is that I get too many ideas for new bike projects from looking at all those hot valks.............:-)

you cant pay me enough to take the NYS thruway (90) across the state
I will take beautiful and scenic 17 across to the ny/ohio/Pa border Can anyone tell me if 30 is a nice road across Ohio
would like to stay well south of chicago and detroit and see the local scenery.
1100 miles is a very easy 2 day I rode to Eureka Springs from here in 2 and to Denver in 3 for previous ride ins. Be a pleasure to ride out with you Andy and also Paul
My friend Gman has expressed interest in these rides and just couldnt get off work for he and cheryl so they felt real bad missing this one, he made the last inzane and blue/grey with me and next year we really want to blast out for the CBR to see DocMoose and friends ride out friday to Indiana return Sunday
Now to figure out how to make all the rides....the not yet scheduled Powwow is all the way up in Nova's neck of the woods next year in Nova Scotia WOW
Here is a pic showing why Pierre still isnt at West Virginia yet lol

I would love to come out to WI, but if it is in June I am already commited to Americade. I had a great time with everyone. I couldn't imagine a more welcoming bunch of folks!! I felt right at home from the very first in spite of acually knowing only a few prior to that. The Stocker ride was a memory for all time!!! What a great job Taz did in getting it all organized with the meals and rides.
The ride home was just too brutal in the heat. I gotta get a trailer ;-)! Then I can bring my non-riding wife out too. Sucks gettin old! I was doing 600+ mile days to get to and from CO 10 years ago, and now a 400 mile day is a killer ;-(! Oh well you do what you can.
Ride On, PaulXX

Just wanted to check in and add my congrats to those responsible for organizing the Marlinton reunion. I had a great time and especially enjoyed visiting with truly nice folks and riding great roads. I certainly like the Lacrosse, WI location for next year (close proximity don't ya know) and hope to join you all again.

We (TAZ, TrainMaster, TurnBoy, MP, and Nitro) took that on our way to WV. It was straight, flat, and boring, but you can make good time on it as the traffic isn't bad at all once you get away from the Chicago area.
