'99 Valkyrie Interstate, black with lots of extra chrome, only 28,000+ miles. Cobra six-pack pipes. Ultimate (I think) pilot back rest.
New Cee Baily windshield new Progressive shocks. Excellent condition, new Avon Cobra tires. I'm gonna keep the Tourer and sell the Interstate and Can Am Spyder and get a Gold Wing.
Can send pics. (see pic at http://www.ericdiehl.com/Valky1.jpg)

I think you're probably right---I kinda doubt there are many '99 standards selling as high as $8,500. But don't worry about me, I've got a retro-looking Valkyrie Touring that I plan on keeping forever.

well, i thought i'd seen everything till last week. the ktm dealer here in grand jct. had one of the saddest looking 97 valk standards i have seen in a while. i think it might have been some sort of blue and silver at one time, but the paint was completely sun faded away.

the seat was cracked and the foam hanging out, again the sun, and it had a set of original valk leather bags that were all curled up and cracked, again from being left in the sun. it looked like it had been at the bottom of a lake for a few years and then set out in the sun to dry.

it did only have 25,000 showing on the clock, but even that had sun faded lenses. this was a real piece of chit !

they sold it for $6,400.00  Shocked Shocked Shocked

WOW! That's about the same I paid for my 2000 Standard in very good condition. Crazy what people will pay for some things. Just look at all those Harley guys...

watching the market over the past few years, the valk keeps going up and down. like anything else they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. however, the valk is starting to take on the persona of the 57 chevy - a classic ! expect to have to pay premium for them as they dry up.

example: since the 1800 wing was introduced and wing riders discovered they are more crotch rocket than tourbike, the 1500 wing has become more popular than ever. 2000 was the last year they were produced, as time goes by the 1500 is now selling (in clean cond) for more than they sold for new. just look at the classifieds on the geezer board.

great looking bike, I sold mine too. I got a goldwing and am now looking for a tourer. the backrest looks like the Utopia not the ultimate.
Good luck on your sale

You may well be correct about the backrest. It's not branded (that I can see), so I was just going by hearsay.

Thanks, Eric

dang, I wish you would have sold this 2 years ago this time.  I would have bought yours for 8K instead of my exact same looking black 01' interstate with 14.5K mileage for 8K with a few more scratches on mine for sure, but I like the fact you have newer tires, 6into6 exhaust to make it roar, and chrome side racks on the side bags look sharp. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to get 8k in a hurry, especially if it was spring out and not close to winter - good luck.

Thanks. It sold a few weeks ago, and I bought a 'Wing to replace it, but I still have a very nice Valkyrie Touring

none of my business, but I'm pretty sure you got pretty darn close the the 8K you were asking correct?  I don't think these interstates, or any valkyrie, for that matter will decrease too much more in value as long as they are in decent shape in 10 years from now like someone posted earlier that more and more valks are getting harder to find.  Although, I do not agree the used 1520cc goldwings are selling for near new prices in 2000 which was about 15K or so if I recollect, more like 8-9K, but most Goldwings have over 50K on them if from 2000 and previous years.

I'm sure you are enjoying your new 1832cc goldwing, although the price of one at over twice the price is a little hard to swallow since the valk interstate is darn near the equal to the 1832cc goldwing or am I mistaken?  I have only driven the 1520cc goldwings and for me anyways, the valk interstate was a no brainer to buy over the old goldwing since having a bigger seat and less top heavy than the 1520cc goldwing and for me, more comfortable driving overall.

I think it all boils down to personal preference and what you can afford although some people are liking the 1520cc goldwings over the 1832cc goldwings for some odd reason. I guess I will never find out until I make more money to actually afford a newer 1832cc goldwing or the price of them come down closer to 12K or less so I can try one out.  I wanted to drive a used 1832cc goldwing at my local snooty Honda dealer when looking at cheaper bikes like the 1520cc goldwing/valk, but they said if you are not serious about buying it which I wasn't for 15K, you cannot drive it - jerks.
