Somewhere over the rainbow....

Hey TC, not sure if you've read enough already, but you'll find a lot of passion here on the VOAI. I'd love to give you my reasons for riding a Valkyrie. It will no doubt parrot so many of the aforementioned.
When I was 26, my wife gave birth to my first son. That was the end of my Maxxim 650 sitting in the driveway. We traded it in for a high chair and a crib.
25 years later, my son's have both moved away and my passion for riding motorcycles (been riding since I was 9) was as strong as ever, but I really hadn't done anything about it.
One day my brother called me and said he really needed my help. He would fly me to Salem, Oregon (500 miles away) if I would please pick up this motorcycle he had just purchased. Well, Saturday morning at 7AM I was on an airplane bound for the coast. Having not sat on a motorcycle for 25years I climbed onto a 1999 Valkyrie interstate for the first time. It was black and loaded with chrome. The most beautiful bike I had ever seen. I rode that bike non stop from Salem Oregon to Nampa Idaho. Arriving a little before midinight. My brother came rushing out of his house, worried to death, and asked me how I was. My answer was "I wish I could just keep on riding". Honest to God. Two months later I bought my own 2001 black Valkyrie interstate and have not looked back. That was 3 years ago.
Welcome to the VOAI. You'll never find a better group of passionate individuals. We are all in love with what a motorcycle that will be mentioned for years and years to come, of that I have no doubt. Kindof like the triumph 650 of 1969.
The very first thing I did after buying my Valk, was to sign up immediately for the intermediate and experienced motorcycle riding courses offered by a local university. I highly recommend the refresher course.
Welcome back to the world of biking!
