Is there an easy way to connect one's Ipod or MP3 player into the aux input of the Audio on an Interstate? I assume that the "aux" was intended for a Honda CD player and access to the aux input is done via an OEM connector. Does anyone have experience with this and is there an adapter that someone makes for sale for this?

Thanks

They made it real easy for us, there is no special connector.  Just go to Radio Shack or Walmart or K-mart or wherever you like and buy a standard mini to mini (male on both ends) audio cable.  Plug one end directly into your iPod and the other end into the receptacle that you will find in the wire bundle under the right side cover of your Interstate.    Set your iPod to play with its volume set to high, set your stereo to Aux and you should hear it well.

Outstanding, So there is a mini stereo input jack. We looked at the radio unit and saw that it was sealed. Also saw a smaller diameter cable connected to the radio box and wonder if that is the one we are looking for.

Thank you for this good stuff

Valkhawk is right on.  Just be sure to make sure you do what he said by turning up the volume most of the way on your ipod/mp3 player.  I was scratching my head the first few minutes when I got done running the either 3 or 6ft. mini plug from the right side cover under the tank area up to my tank bib where my mp3 player is and did not have any sound since my mp3 player was on low to medium volume.  You really need to crank the mp3 or ipod up most of the way to get volume. fyi!  1/2 beer job at best! The most difficult part is to thread the 6' sterio cable from under the seat to under the tank, to the MP3 player.  I have this set up at the moment, and it works great.

pretty easy, a few black cable ties attaching the plug wire to the other wires underneath as well as some black electrical tape is all that is needed.  1/4 beer job now!

I have a 07 Wing also and ran the Ipod just like this and had to crank the vol on the Ipod. This ran the battery down after about 2 hours. Now play music through my ZUMO 550 and that is fantastic. All of the music controls right there on the GPS in similar Ipod format. It requires MP3 format.

I would think an mp3 player or ipod running for even 24 hours while the engine is running would not affect the battery since the alternator, if working properly, would charge the battery just fine, correct?  I've run my mp3 player 3-4 hours straight while running my interstate with no problems the past 2 summers.  I even forget to turn off the mp3 player the bike is not running and bike always starts fine with the battery going to be 4 years old later this year.

Me thinks he has a portable mp3, uses a AAA battery probly.  That's what I use, they run down fast with the volume up loud.  hoser
Usually just stick the earbuds in under my helmet and put the mp3 player in my shirt pocket.  Turn it up enough to overcome the moderatly loud truck stacks.

Make sure you run the wire down the right side ( brake side ) if not you will get coil interference noise through the speakers....Been there ...Done that  Sad

Sorry for sort of a thread hijack but it is related. Just got an interstate and rode with wife to bike week. Has the same problem I had with my venture. at lower speeds we can hear fine both radio and intercom, but at high speeds even with AVS on the road noise makes it impossible to hear. even with the Volume on the intercom turned way down still can barely  hear the music. I have stock pipes so thats not the problem. could it be the 3/4 helmets. I could go to full face if that would help. Please weigh in. Love the interstate, just like i liked my venture, but would like to be able to converse. thanks.

I use 3/4 helmets, that's why I use earbuds, even when I had my interstate, could not hear the speakers on the bike or the helmet speakers at upper speeds.  Hoser

Sorry, do not know anything about the volume on the intercom since I do not use it and never tried it, but the music thru my mp3 player with the volume 90% up on the mp3 player with the volume control of my cycle on the handlebars around 20 and can hear the music just fine thru my interstates speakers going 65 mph.  The speed compensated volume I have set on high most of the time instead of medium thru the left handlebar controls.  I also ride with a 3/4 helmet.
