When I got my Valk last year, I replaced the speakers with much better, higher wattage speakers. Was going to get an amplifier too, but didn't need it. The new speakers were much better.

Could you share what kind of speakers you upgraded to? also I've noticed that sierra offers a earbud connection that fits into the valk or wing headset lead.

I think they were some Sony ones, I picked up at a stereo store. Unfortunately, the original size of the Valk Speakers means no replacement ones available, (they are about 1/4 inch larger than normal). But, with a little work, I was able to adapt new ones to fit. difference is, I believe, going from 10 watts to 50 watts, meaning at the higher playing levels, the sound is clear, and not muddy.
I was prepared to add an amplifier, but didn't need to.

Not 100% sure myself, but was told that if you switch speakers, make sure you stay at factory specs of 3 ohm rating instead of most speakers being 4 ohms. Have heard, like I said not 100% sure myself, it could cause problems with your radio electronics, etc., possibly even making it not work entirely. Just saying - anyone else hear this?

Not sure how the wrong speaker would damage the stereo unit. But, then again, I am not an electronics wiz. But, mine seems to be working fine.

My buddy, whose bike has been the subject of this thread, replaced all four of his speakers with Alpines. He is somewhat of an audiophile and says that it made a remarkable difference. I am considering the same for my 07 Wing. There is allot of discussion about this on the GL1800 forum.
