I just push the button after I make my turn  cool
Whoa! Hold on there! Let's all just keep our cool and not get so complicated! Push the button. OK, let me write this down..... :-D

I've actually run into two people lately that didn't know you could push the switch to cancel the signals. They just pushed it in the opposite direction every time.

Easy and cheap (that's my style) fix is to hook up a $3 Radio Shack Piezo beeper to the turn signal flasher 'idiot light' in the headlight. It will beep every time the light flashes.

I did this after reading one of your posts on the subject and will admit it helped alot and as you say was $3. However I got all kinds of looks at stoplights (mainly from pedestrians) I think they were worried I was going to back over them.
I ended up removing it and force myself into remembering to hit the button after a turn.

I may opt for some kind of cancel device as driving with the blinker on is a recipe for disaster.

As a follow up to my earlier post on this topic- I did get a Signal Minder from Kisen Tech.
Easy straight forward install and it gives signal cancellation as well as flashed brake lights and 4 way flashers and parade (wig-wag) flashers. At first it did not work, called their cust. service and talked with the owners daughter (extremely knowledgeable young lady). Took the indicator bulb out as she instructed-everything worked perfectly. They sent me, at no charge, a replacement bulb with some dealie in it. Now the indicator light works and everything is as promised.
By the way, if you ever want a cussing experience-take out and replace an indicator bulb!

Every time I shift into a different gear, I push the turn signal button.

You round a corner or go straight ahead, hit 2nd, push the button, hit third, push the button, hit 4th, push da button, hit  road gear, push da button.

Coming down, I keep me thumb off da button.

Has worked for many many years.   When riding CHP bikes, I learned to do that.   The Harley's were different, ya had a button on each side of the bars.  Then we went to Moto Guzzie, to Kawasaki, and now they ride BMW's.
