Bring It..LET'S RIDE..GOD'S Country east Tennessee

« on: July 10, 2010, 07:11:23 PM »

My friend's Dave and Julie Weaver are down in God's Country from Indiana this weekend so we took them for a ride...We was going to hit some backroads here in the hood but yesterday they re-opened The Dragon for the first time since a March 2010 rockslide shut it down so we went to check it out.One of the stops along the way...Fort Loudoun Dam.

US 129 IS NOW OPEN

Awesome doo-rag my Yankee friend  cool

Picture below taken on the Tennessee side of US 129 at the overlook on The Dragon .

Deal's Gap was makin' money hand over fist today with the reopening of The Dragon on the Tennessee side.

Everyone in the group made the comment that they did a piss poor job on the mountain...They had to be done yesterday in order to get a huge bonus and it seems they just left these boulders as big as Valkyries hangin' by threads on the mountain.I'm no geologist or road builder but I can see the rush job that was done in order to collect the bonus.( I re-size my pictures for a couple friends that have dial-up and it takes away the clearity of the shot . )

I have seen the Hwy Departments use these wire mess in various parts of the West.  Freezing and thawing cause rocks to loosen up and come down.  Sure keeps them off the road.
