Hi,
So in my search for Valks, I have  noticed that above the carbs on most bikes there seem to be chrome caps.  On some others that I have seen those caps look like they are replaced with "cups" or chrome ~ 2in tubes.  Can someone tell me if these are just for looks or functional?

Thanks Smiley

Those are "velocity stacks." Purely for looks.

You can also get these filters from auto places for about $10 each. I had the red ones on my Standard before she was wrecked.

There's a video on YouTube where someone put an LED in each stack and they each came on as that cylinder 'fired'. Very, very nice touch.

All the best,

Mark

Not mine, but I think these are very cool looking.  Pricey velocity stacks with the $10.00 chrome air filters mounted inside with PVC tubing with a light bar below to show them off and puzzle the V-twin guys for sure:

I put a set of  those filters on my STD this spring and all the V-twin guys I ride with walk around the bike and stare at them when they think I'm not looking, but not one has asked me about them yet. Cracks me up!

Yeah, the filters would make it look even more real!  Just the stacks get the question, is that the air intake!  Where are the filters?  Do you run it without filters?

LOL

that's because the v-twin guys' engines are almost all the same.  We are unique indeed.  About the only thing the V-twin guys got over us is mpg, but I still think 33-35 mpg is better than all 6 cylinder cars and most 4 cylinder cars get.  Heck, my former 1984 honda magna 4 cylinder never saw above 40 mpg either even with the 6 speed tranny and about 300 lbs. lighter.
