and what a difference! With the I/S I can roll on the throttle, skip a gear, roll on some more until I get to full highway speed.

With the SS I have to wind 'er up and run her through every gear or she gets mighty un-happy.

However, the SS can eat bumpy bits and gravel roads for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the Valk gets skittish when I even think of going off-road.

This is also the first time I've ridden w/out a fairing or windshield in front of me in almost 10 years - surprise! Smiley

Sounds like fun...so is this your first time on a trail/dirt bike, or is it a return to your roots?

First time - my bike history has been a Honda CB550, Honda CB750, Yamaha Venture Royale, the Valk, and now the Super Sherpa.

How big of a bike is the SS?

I went the other route- dirt to street. Started out on a 1984 (?) Yamaha 100 enduro. Good times!

It's a 250cc, 6-speed thumper. Here's a pic:

Mine's a fair bit scruffier though.  Cheesy

I took it around the yard a couple times since it's not road-licensed yet - what a hoot! I can't wait to find some dirt roads. Smiley

here's a short vid of one in action:

Ah, I've seen those. Looks like a fun trail/road bike. I have a Honda CRF230F that I'll eventually need to upgrade to a CRF 250/450F. The shocks on the 230 just aren't enough to keep up with some of the riding with me on it!

Unfortunately I won't find out how much fun today because the ownership is made out to "John D. pastowner" and he signed it "David Pastowner", and the gov't office won't take the signature as it stands.

Soon, though!

The bike's now legal, and it's been a great ride so far.

There's not as much power as the Valk, however I can head over dirt roads without fear, it'll tractor right up an overgrown embankment, and it fits where only bicycles dare to tread!

Good stuff.

All I need now is an MC trailer so I can load it behind my valk and have the best of both worlds.  Grin
